Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received a warm ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan’s forecourt on Saturday during her state visit to India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted his Bangladeshi counterpart as they reaffirmed bilateral ties at this significant diplomatic event.
Following the welcome ceremony, Prime Minister Hasina paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, marking a respectful gesture towards India’s revered Father of the Nation.
Sheikh Hasina’s second trip to India in June marks her arrival in New Delhi on Friday at the invitation of Prime Minister Modi for bilateral consultations aimed at strengthening the relationship between the two neighboring nations.
During her stay, Prime Minister Hasina engaged in crucial discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Friday evening, discussing various aspects of mutual interest and cooperation.
Expressing his appreciation for the enduring partnership, EAM Jaishankar remarked on X, “Delighted to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh this evening. Her State visit to India underlines our close and abiding ties. Appreciate her guidance on the further development of our special partnership.”
Prime Minister Hasina’s agenda includes meetings with President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, in addition to comprehensive talks with Prime Minister Modi.
These interactions aim to bolster cooperation across diverse sectors, including trade, security, and regional stability.
Sheikh Hasina’s presence at the recent swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Modi and his Council of Ministers on 9 June underscored the strategic importance both countries place on their longstanding friendship and cooperation.
The visit is expected to further solidify the close ties and cooperation between Bangladesh and India, enhancing mutual understanding and advancing shared interests in the region and beyond.
