The Approval Process Handbook (APH) for the academic years 2024–2027 was released by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday, with an emphasis on raising educational standards. The manual outlines the precise steps that educational institutions need to take in order to obtain AICTE clearance for their technical and management programs.
The AICTE Chairman, Professor TG Sitharam, spoke to the media about changes to the handbook that will focus the quality of education, expedite processes, and guarantee transparent implementation.
Notably, AICTE made the revised APH draft available to the public for the first time, soliciting comments and suggestions. An expert group reviewed more than 600 ideas, which were then included in the final text.

“AICTE released the new APH draft to the public for the first time in an effort to get input and comments from a range of experts and stakeholders. Several recommendations were included in the final draft after an expert group reviewed more than 600 comments and proposals from various stakeholders, according to Mr. Sitharam.
The APH has undergone significant changes, including the addition of an off-campus option for successful institutions, a three-year extension of approval for well-performing institutions, loosened admission requirements for courses offered in these institutions, lowered compliance standards for land documents and NOCs, and the inclusion of undergraduate programs in computer applications and management under AICTE’s purview.
In addition, the APH offers working professionals the chance to further their education via flexible modes, explains the procedures for online and distance learning, and gives default approval for skill development through vocational courses at AICTE-approved schools.

With its INDovation program and the creation of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) on campuses, the APH emphasizes innovation heavily.
Enhancing quality through model curriculum, faculty participation in development programs, free access to technical books, placement and internship facilities through AICTE’s portal, and eligibility for scholarship schemes are some of the ways that the new AICTE approval provision for institutions offering BCA and BBA/BMS courses seeks to improve quality.
