A fisherman discovered alive on a liferaft was reported missing around two weeks ago. A few good Samaritans worked together to save him. When he vanished, he was on a ship that had left Westport, in Grays Harbor County, and was supposed to return in three days.
A couple of individuals on their boat noticed the raft drifting in the river. They moved swiftly to save the man’s life after realizing he was in the raft. One of the rescuers, Ryan Planes, told King-TV, “I saw what looked like a life raft in the distance and ran inside and put the binoculars on him, and then he shot off a flare.”
“We welcomed him aboard. It was heartfelt when he embraced me tightly. He had breakfast with us. He consumed three water bottles. Poor guy, he was extremely hungry,” said Planes.
According to King-TV, the fisherman drifted on the raft by himself for about 13 days. He was standard for a while until he ran out of food. To survive, he had to catch and consume salmon.
A photo of the raft was shared by the US Coast Guard in the Pacific Northwest on their official X handle. “This morning, the good Samaritan vessel approached the liferaft in this #BreakingNews photo,” the user posted.
