Ashneer Grover, former MD of BharatPe, recently stirred social media by sharing a snapshot of what he dubbed as the first “‘cross-breed” Tesla spotted in Delhi. The vehicle, identified as a BYD (Build Your Dreams) Atto 3 in Boulder Grey, sported the word “Tesla” on its rear, intriguing many. Grover’s post garnered significant attention, amassing 1.8 lakh views and over three thousand likes on X (formerly Twitter). In his caption, Grover exclaimed, “World’s first ‘cross-breed’ Tesla! Some Delhi boy literally ‘built his dream’ in Karol Bagh.”
Users flooded the comments section with a mix of awe and amusement. One user praised the ingenuity, stating, “There is no dearth of creativity in India,” while another chimed in, “ROFL, this is BYD Atto 3.. the guy is brilliant :).” Karol Bagh, known for its resourcefulness, was hailed as having the answer to everything, with comments like “Welcome to India” and “Just Delhi people thing” highlighting the city’s knack for innovation.
On a more speculative note, a user joked, “BYD-TESLA Cross-Over @elonmusk in shock,” as discussions veered toward the potential impact on Tesla. Meanwhile, the BYD Atto 3, an electric SUV manufactured by BYD Auto, was brought into focus, with its starting price of ₹ 33,99,000.
In a separate development, in December, there were indications of Tesla eyeing investment in Gujarat. During a Cabinet briefing, Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel hinted at Elon Musk’s interest in the state, stating, “We are very hopeful, the Gujarat government is very hopeful. Elon Musk, who is the founder of Tesla, has his eyes set on the state. Let us hope they come to Gujarat.” Patel emphasized Gujarat’s business-friendly environment, citing existing projects by other car manufacturers in the state.
