Kaali Peeli taxi
As of today, October 30, Mumbai’s recognizable Kaali-Peeli taxis, which have long been associated with the city, will no longer be seen on the streets. This move will open the door for more modern automobile models and app-based taxi services in the nation’s financial center. Industrialist Anand Mahindra sent a heartfelt tweet saying goodbye to the venerable Premier Padmini Taxis, which are going out of service today. These taxis “carried tons of memories” for him.
The renowned Premier Padmini Taxi will no longer be seen on Mumbai’s roadways as of today. They were cumbersome, noisy, uncomfortable, and untrustworthy. There is not much room for luggage either. But they held a wealth of memories for individuals my age. They successfully completed their task of moving us from point A to point B. Alvida, and good bye, Kaali-Peeli taxis. Anand Mahindra posted a picture of a cab on X along with the message, “Thank you for the good times.”
On October 30, the tweet was disseminated. Since then, it has received over 4.1 lakh and 7.8 lakh likes. Some even replied to his tweet with a retweet.
“However, their steering gear levers were the best. It was a feeling,” someone wrote.
“They were clunkers, but they were part of Mumbai’s charm and nostalgia,” said another. A new chapter has ended, yet the memories they had will live on forever in people’s hearts.
“Hello, I’ve always respected Premier Padmini. Do you have any ideas or intentions to bring this vintage model back?
It would be incredible to see it back on the roads with contemporary characteristics, said a third.
“I’m really going to miss this and the red double decker a lot,” said a fourth. In many respects, it characterized Bombay and India as well.
