An Uncommon Case: 60 Live Worms Removed From Woman’s Eyes In China

During a horrifying procedure, Chinese medical professionals recently removed more than 60 live worms from a patient’s eyes. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly experienced itchy eyes. Her anxiety increased when she noticed a parasitic worm dropping out of her eyes after rubbing them to ease the tingling. She was hurried to a local hospital in Kunming, China.

Doctors were horrified to find live worms infesting the area between her eyeballs and eyelids when they examined her. Her right eye had over 40 live worms removed, while her left eye had over ten. The physicians extracted almost 60 parasites from the woman’s eye in total.

An uncommon case with live worms in eyes

The patient was an uncommon case, according to Dr. Guan, the operating physician, because of the abnormally high quantity of parasites. According to Daily Express US, the doctors think the woman contracted roundworms, namely the Filarioidea kind, which are usually spread by fly bites.

How did this happen

The woman believes that the worms, which carry infected larvae on their bodies, were passed on to her by dogs and cats. She believes that the infestation may have started when she touched the animals and rubbed her eyes.

The woman has been advised by the doctors to have regular check-ups in order to detect any potential remaining larvae. They also requested that she always wash her hands right away after handling dogs.

This is not the only case

In another strange discovery, a totally intact house fly was discovered within a man’s intestines during a colonoscopy, leaving US physicians perplexed. The discovery was uncovered when a 63-year-old Missouri man went in for a standard colon test. Everything was going according to plan during the colonoscopy until the medical professionals discovered a fully developed fly at the top of the large intestine, or the transverse colon.

The 63-year-old patient, whose name has not been made public, was equally shocked to learn of the finding and didn’t know how the insect entered his body. He admitted to the doctors that he had only drunk clear liquids prior to the treatment and that he had eaten lettuce and pizza the day before, but he could not remember ever seeing a fly on any of the food. Doctors stated the man showed no signs of having consumed it.
