
US Ambassador-designate to India, Sergio Gor, described his visit to the country as an honour and a privilege.
During his stay, he held a series of high-level meetings with key Indian officials, including Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
He also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, engaging in discussions on bilateral issues spanning defence, trade, and technology.
“We just finished an incredible meeting with Prime Minister Modi, where we discussed critical matters, including defence, trade, and technology,” Gor said.
Focus on Strategic Sectors and Critical Minerals
Gor emphasised the importance of critical minerals for both nations and highlighted the United States’ commitment to its partnership with India. He expressed optimism about the future of the bilateral relationship under the leadership of US President Donald J Trump and Prime Minister Modi.
“The US values its relationship with India, and under the strong leadership of President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, I’m optimistic about the days ahead for both our nations,” he said.
The ambassador-designate also underscored the personal rapport between the two leaders. “President Trump considers Prime Minister Modi a great and personal friend. Just before I left for New Delhi, they had an incredible phone call, which will continue over the weeks and months ahead,” Gor noted.
Gor reiterated his commitment to serving as President Trump’s ambassador to India. He expressed his eagerness to strengthen and expand the strategic partnership between the two countries.
“It is an honour to serve as President Trump’s ambassador to India. I look forward to this very important relationship and continuing to grow and deepen the bond between our two nations,” he said.
