
On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Cristiano R Amon, president and CEO of US-based chip giant Qualcomm. Their discussion focused on India’s advancements in AI, innovation, and skilling.
During the meeting, PM Modi appreciated Qualcomm’s strong support for India’s semiconductor and AI missions. He further noted that the country has the talent and scale to drive global technological progress.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister posted, “It was a wonderful meeting with Mr. Cristiano R. Amon and discussing India’s strides in AI, innovation and skilling. Great to see Qualcomm’s commitment towards India’s semiconductor and AI missions. India offers unmatched talent and scale to build technologies that will shape our collective future.”

Cristiano Amon, in response, thanked the Prime Minister for a productive discussion focused on deepening Qualcomm’s partnership with India.
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the IndiaAI and India Semiconductor Missions. Furthermore, he emphasised Qualcomm’s role in contributing to India’s transition towards 6G technology.
“Thank you PM @narendramodi for the great conversation on fostering a broader partnership between @Qualcomm and India in support of the IndiaAI and India Semiconductor Missions, as well as the transition to 6G. We are encouraged by the opportunities to develop an Indian ecosystem across AI smartphones, PCs, smart glasses, auto, industrial and more,” Amon wrote on X, sharing photos of the meeting.

Earlier in the week, Qualcomm India reiterated its commitment to shaping the country’s digital future. It further pledged to deliver inclusive, sustainable, and globally competitive technology solutions.
At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, the company showcased a diverse range of innovations. These included Edge AI, 6G, smart homes, connected devices, and advanced compute platforms.
Through these technologies, the company underscored its vital role in powering India’s digital transformation.
Qualcomm presented its vision for an intelligent and connected India built on three core pillars: Personal AI, Physical AI, and Industrial AI
The company has, however, played a pivotal role in India’s technological journey, aiding the country’s evolution from 3G to 5G, and now investing in local research, strategic partnerships, and early-stage 6G development.
At IMC 2025, Qualcomm highlighted Edge AI and 5G as the twin foundations of India’s digital future, reinforcing its long-term commitment to supporting the nation’s innovation ecosystem.
