Record Of Sixers As Another Biggie: Ruturaj Makes Shiva A History

One of the top IPL stars, Ruturaj Gaikwad has smashed List A record scoring 43 runs with seven sixes in an over.

Now the second name which will be remembered in the cricket history with this record is Shiva Singh, the bowler who suffered the pain in the penultimate over of the match in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

It was a quarter-final match in Ahmedabad where Maharashtra skipper and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad was seen hitting seven sixes in an over. This was one of its in a first in List A cricket – which was against Uttar Pradesh during a Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final contest in Ahmedabad.

Let us see what happened on the ground. It was the penultimate over belonging to the Maharashtra innings. The over kicked off with the scoreboard reading 272 runs for five wickets. When the historical over ended it was on 315 runs for five wickets. Maharashtra finished on 330 runs for five. The total of 43 runs out of six balls had created an unimaginable history. It has made in the record books, matching the combined effort of Joe Carter and Brett Hampton where the bowler was Willem Ludick playing for Northern Districts against Central Districts during a match of Ford Trophy in the year 2018.

On Monday 28th of November 2022 in Ahmedabad, the left-arm spinner Shiva Singh was starting his over from round the wicket side. His first ball being a low full toss, was entertained by Ruturaj smoking over wide long-on. The second ball was in the arc which was hit straight down the ground. The third ball as a shorter was swung over by Gaikwad across the rope at deep square-leg. This is where Shiva changed his line and his fourth ball went outside off stump. It was a perfect length for Gaikwad to smash over long-off. Then the scared bowler went defensive and his fifth ball went roughly in the same direction being a no-ball to boot. Resultantly the next ball was a free hit going over long-on. That was technically the sixth six out of five legal deliveries. Thus Gaikwad reached to his double-century with that. The last ball, Shiva was reluctant to go for but had to and then again going over the wicket his ball again was seen going in the arc on middle stump, which was pulled to deep midwicket again by the batter.
