On Thursday, former Congress member Pramod Krishnam, expelled from the party for alleged indiscipline, voiced his discontent regarding the Congress party’s seat-sharing arrangements for the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh.

Krishnam, who describes himself as a spiritual guru, has been vocal about his mission to illuminate society through spiritual and social initiatives.

Taking to X, Pramod Krishnam posted, “Congress should hand over their ‘office’ and ‘flag’ to SP too. @INCIndia @kharge @RahulGandhi.”

Congress & SP Unite For By-Elections Under SP Emblem

This outburst follows a significant decision by Congress to contest the by-elections under the SP’s emblem.

Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav announced that candidates from the INDIA bloc will contest all nine Assembly seats in the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh using the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol, the ‘cycle.’

Rahul Gandhi and Yadav had reportedly engaged in late-night discussions over the seat-sharing deal, with Congress initially seeking to contest five of the ten assembly seats.

However, the agreement reached allowed Congress to field candidates only in two constituencies: Ghaziabad and Khair, a situation that reportedly left Congress leaders dissatisfied.

In response to the unfolding events, Akhilesh Yadav took to X to clarify the coalition’s strategy, emphasizing unity within the INDIA bloc.

Yadav stated, “The Congress and Samajwadi Party are standing together, united and shoulder to shoulder, aiming for a big win. The INDIA alliance is likely to write a new chapter of victory in this by-election.”

“With this unprecedented cooperation and support, every worker of ‘INDIA bloc’ on all nine Assembly seats is filled with new energy with the resolve to win,” he further added.

The SP President further asserted, “It is not about seats but about winning. Under this strategy, the joint candidates of the INDIA bloc will contest all the nine seats on the Samajwadi Party’s election symbol ‘cycle’.”

As the 13 November by-elections approach, the political landscape in Uttar Pradesh continues to shift, with the counting of votes likely for 23 November.
