In his post, Yunus explained the significance of the photo, stating that it was taken during their bilateral meeting in Bangkok, where Modi had presented the gold medal to Yunus.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 6th BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, marking their first face-to-face meeting since Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s government collapsed.

During their interaction, PM Modi reiterated India’s unwavering support for a democratic, stable, peaceful, progressive, and inclusive Bangladesh.
He emphasized that India follows a people-centric approach in its relations with Bangladesh, which has led to significant cooperation and tangible benefits for both nations.

While in Bangkok for the BIMSTEC Summit, PM Modi posted on X, expressing his commitment to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
He stated, “With fellow BIMSTEC leaders at the Summit being held in Bangkok, Thailand. We reaffirm our commitment to boosting cooperation across diverse sectors. May our efforts bring a positive difference in people’s lives.”

Moment Of Silence For Earthquake Victims
At the summit, PM Modi, along with other BIMSTEC leaders, observed a minute of silence to honor the victims of the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. This moment reflected solidarity with those affected by the natural disaster.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi met with Myanmar’s Senior General Aung Hlaing to discuss bilateral relations between India and Myanmar. This meeting took place before the main summit events, focusing on strengthening the ties between the two neighboring countries.
