tomatoes

This remarkable creation, resulting from the grafting of potato and tomato plants, presents dual harvest of luscious tomatoes and hearty potatoes from a single stem.

Tomatoes will be offered for sale by the Indian government at a discounted price of 70 rupees per kilogramme via the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) in Delhi.

According to data gathered by the food ministry, retail prices for tomatoes were at 178 rupees per kilogramme in Delhi on Sunday, up more than 700% from Jan. 1.

The government attributes the higher pricing of tomatoes to a season of low output during which monsoon rains interfere with transportation and distribution, but customers have recently faced higher prices for a variety of goods, from milk to spices.
