SC petition alleges that corporate entities donated to evade scrutiny by Central Government agencies and secure government contracts or licenses.

Soren, in his petition filed through advocate Pragya Baghel, said that a pattern has emerged in the actions of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of prosecuting and targeting individuals, especially political leaders associated with the opposition, on the basis of fabricated charges.

The debate delved into past legal precedents, notably the 1977 Ranganatha Reddy case, where the majority opinion clarified that private property does not constitute material resources of the community.

The court said that it is not the controlling authority for elections and a constitutional authority cannot direct the functioning of the Election Commission.
