On Wednesday, the Supreme Court overturned a Madras High Court order granting bail to 8 individuals purportedly associated with the banned organization Popular Front of India (PFI).

The 5-member Constitution Bench, led by the Chief Justice of India, affirmed that Article 370 was a temporary provision and that the President had the authority to revoke it.

On Tuesday, the SC adjourned former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s plea challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.

The Vacation bench of Justice PS Narsimha and Justice Sanjay Karol is hearing the petition filed on behalf of the accused. The Supreme Court will next hear the case on the 15th  of July.

It was said in the petition that the Indian Justice Code, Civil Defense Code and Indian Evidence Act passed by the Parliament should be examined by forming a committee under the chairmanship of a retired judge of the Supreme Court.

Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on January 31 in connection with the land scam and is accused of money laundering related to land deals.

The Supreme Court of India has directed the Delhi High Court to resolve Amandeep Dhall's pending petition before the summer recess.
