Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien Suspended From Rajya Sabha

Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, is scheduled to introduce the Appropriation (No.3) Bill, 2023 in the Rajya Sabha today.

The bill originally outlined an initial search committee comprising the Cabinet secretary and two senior officials to prepare a panel of five names for consideration.

Addressing the press in Delhi, Thakur questioned Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi's stance against demonetization, citing the substantial cash recovery from Dheeraj Sahu's place.

Sitharaman underscored a significant concern, revealing that approximately 13.5 crore people have grappled with 'multi-dimensional' poverty over the past five years.

Two Bills were passed on Monday, the first day of the Winter Session of Parliament.

These include refraining from publicizing notices for debates until approved by the Chairman, maintaining confidentiality on discussions during Question Hour, and adhering to decorum.

During the hearing, it was suggested that Mr. Chadha would seek an appointment and apologize on record, which the Rajya Sabha Chairman should consider sympathetically.

The history of the bill traces back to 1996 when the Deve Gowda government first introduced the idea of reserving 33% of seats for women.

The Rajya Sabha passed the bill on August 7 with 131 votes in favor and 102 votes in against.
