North Korea Claims Another Test Of Underwater Nuclear Drone

North Korea on Saturday claimed it tested this week a second known type of nuclear-capable underwater attack drone designed to destroy naval vessels and ports.

“The military provocations by the US-led warmongers have gone beyond the tolerance limit."

The United States reportedly plans to send an aircraft carrier in the coming days for another round of joint drills with the South

North Korea's state media called the launch a simulated nuclear attack on unspecified South Korean targets

South Korea's defence ministry announced hours after the launch

The ICBM launch was North Korea's fourth missile event in about a week as it ratcheted up a tit-for-tat response to the US-South Korean military drill

It said the missiles flew for more than two hours, drawing figure-eight-shaped patterns in waters off the country's eastern coast, and hit targets 1,500 kilometres away

Japan's UN Ambassador Kimihiro Ishikane, whose country called the emergency meeting, told the council that Saturday's ICBM fell in Japan's exclusive economic zone just 200 kilometers (124 miles) from Hokkaido.

On Friday, North Korea launched its Hwasong-15 ICBM off its east coast in the country's first missile test since Jan. 1.
