The elite 209 CoBRA has emerged as a key force against Maoists in Jharkhand, executing precision operations that weakened the insurgency.

Amit Shah reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to end Naxalism by 31 March 2026, ruling out any talks with Maoists who continue to carry arms.

Five Maoists were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, police officials stated.

STF Jawans, including a driver, were injured when Maoists targeted their vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED).

Chhattisgarh Police announced on Sunday that eight Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Bijapur district.

Official sources estimate more than 50 Maoists are present in the region, and the search operation will continue until the area is cleared.

This latest encounter brings the total number of Maoists killed by security forces and state police this year to 112, a significant increase compared to 2023, when 22 Maoists were killed.

West Singhbhum is considered one of the most left-wing extremist-affected districts in the country. 

Three CRPF jawans were killed and 14 injured in an encounter with Maoists in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district. The clash occurred during the establishment of a Forward Operating Base.
