Rahul Gandhi, following his visit to camps in Manipur on Monday, urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to visit the violence-ravaged state.

Four fire trucks were dispatched to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze this evening. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Prime Minister Modi received a comprehensive briefing on the conditions in the affected states—Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Tripura.

Ahead of the second phase of the election scheduled for April 26, extensive preparations have been made in outer Manipur.

Re-polling commenced on Monday at 11 polling venues within the inner-Manipur Parliamentary constituency. Security has been tightened.

Manipur witnessed several incidents during the polling, including firing, intimidation, and the destruction of EVMs, particularly in conflict-prone areas.

Manipur was scheduled to hold elections for its two seats, Inner and Outer Manipur, on Friday under the backdrop of an ongoing ethnic war.

Assam recorded a turnout of 45.12% in its ongoing elections, with notable figures like Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and opposition-supported candidate Lurinjyoti Gogoi in the fray.

Furthermore, Shah acknowledged the historical contributions of Tripura's erstwhile monarchs to the region's development, citing this as a rationale for nominating a candidate from the royal family for the East Tripura Lok Sabha seat.

Over the past decade, the transformation is evident as we have effectively dissolved the isolation of the Northeast, fostering its evolution into India's gateway to the East.
