The meeting between the two leaders comes ahead of the third in-person summit of leaders of the Quad summit later today.

Japanese PM Fumio Kishida has mentioned "stronger involvement in the Global South" as a key issue at the summit. He uses the term very often at news conferences.

"Democracy needs more. I think we need clear global leadership of democracy. This is the main thing that we provide with our cooperation," the Ukrainian president said.

G7 is the informal grouping of seven of the most advanced economies of the world. Japan is hosting the 49th G7 summit which will last till 21st May.
