The Indian Navy's warship INS Kolkata successfully compelled all 35 Somali pirates, who had hijacked a vessel in the Arabian Sea, to surrender, ensuring the safe evacuation of 17 crew members on Saturday.

The Ex-Indian Navy officers are Sailor Ragesh, Commander Purenendu Tiwari, Captain Birendra Kumar Verma, Captain Navtej Singh Gill, Commander Saurabh Vashisht, Commander Sugunakar Pakala, Commander Sanjeev Gupta, and Commander Amit Nagpal.

Issuing an official statement, the MEA expressed gratitude towards the Qatar court for their decision to release the ex-Indian Navy personnel, hailing their safe return home.

Indian Navy spokesperson Commander Vivek Madhwal said, “After six hours of battling the fire along with the crew of MV Marlin Luanda, the Indian Naval fire fighting team has successfully brought the fire under control.”

One Bangladeshi and twenty-two Indian crew members are on board on the British oil tanker Marlin Luanda.
