In the last 24 hours, Odisha was experiencing continuous rains due to the formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal.

The cyclone Biparjoy weakened into a 'Deep Depression' on June 16 about and moved to Rajasthan following its landfall in Gujarat.

'Biparjoy' is predicted to make landfall, close to Jakhau port, with winds of 125–135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.

Two further deaths were recorded in the state bringing the total number of storm-related deaths prior to Biparjoy's landfall to five.
