Hathras Stampede

The Supreme Court has declined a PIL seeking the formation of a five-member expert committee to investigate the 2 July stampede in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.

The Yogi govt ordered the suspension of six officials in connection with the Hathras stampede that resulted in the death of 121 people.

The SIT investigating the Hathras stampede, which resulted in at least 121 deaths, has submitted its report to the Uttar Pradesh government.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday wrote to UP CM Yogi Adityanath urging him for impartial probe into Hathras Incident. 

Dev Prakash Madhukar, accused in the Hathras case, was removed from his role as technical assistant overseeing MGNREGA projects in Sheetalpur block, Etah district, UP.

Police suggest that severe overcrowding, insufficient exits, adverse weather conditions, and other factors might have contributed to the high death toll.

As many as 121 people were killed after a stampede broke out in Hathras. Uttar Pradesh government has announced judicial probe in this stampede.
