Member of Parliament from Raebareli and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday wrote to UP CM Yogi Adityanath urging him for impartial probe into Hathras Incident.

In the letter, explaining the problems of victims’ families Rahul has requested CM to increase the compensation. He also urged to CM to provide it to the families at earliest.

The leader of opposition posted the letter on platform X on Sunday. The letter dates to July 6.

Rahul Gandhi also mentioned about his visit to Aligarh and Hathra, where he interacted with affected families. Rahul Gandhi wrote that no amount of compensation to compensate the loss suffered by families.

Urging for the probe, he wrote that fair and impartial investigation will help identify the lapses in district administration. Notably, a catastrophic stampede at a religious congregation took 121 lives on July 2.

“This will help in preventing the recurrence of such incidents in future and the guilty need to be punished,” he wrote.

Rahul visited the family on Friday and asked them about the incident and the support they had received. He had given them his word that he would address their concerns in the appropriate place.

Later, Rahul talked to the injured and families of deceased in Hathras Stampede after reaching the district.

He told reporters, “There have been some lapses on the part of the administration which led to a tragedy of this magnitude. When permission was for 80,000 people, then how did so many people reach there? Action should be taken against whoever is guilty.”

On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the site of the tragedy and ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
