Cyclone Biparjoy weakened into a "Deep Depression" on June 16 over Southeast Pakistan bordering Southwest Rajasthan and Kutch, around 100 km northeast of Dholavira, and then travelled to Rajasthan after making landfall in Gujarat.

After receiving a prompt alert from the IMD regarding the "extensive damaging potential" of the cyclone, authorities quickly ordered the evacuation of approximately one lakh residents of susceptible districts.

Cyclone Biparjoy live updates: The storm has led to heavy rainfall and intense tidal waves in several parts of India, especially Mumbai and Gujarat.

'Biparjoy' is predicted to make landfall, close to Jakhau port, with winds of 125–135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.

In the districts of Devbhumi Dwarka, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, and Junagadh, the rainfall was heavier.

Two further deaths were recorded in the state bringing the total number of storm-related deaths prior to Biparjoy's landfall to five.

The Union health ministry is closely monitoring the cyclone situation and is taking all essential precautions in case of a health emergency
