On Sunday, Amit Shah said India is strengthening its position in advanced technology sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics and semiconductor manufacturing, adding that the country is preparing to play a leading role in industries expected to drive the global economy in the coming decades.
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the first phase of Million Minds Tech City, Gujarat’s first Special Economic Zone-based IT park, in Ahmedabad.
Addressing the event in the Tragad area, Shah said India had significantly improved its standing in several high-technology sectors and was now building capabilities in fields including quantum computing, cybersecurity, autonomous systems, defence technology and space research.
The Minister stated that the country would require a large number of trained professionals and modern infrastructure to support growth in these industries.
According to him, technology parks and innovation hubs would help create the right environment for skilled youth and technology-driven businesses.
The first phase of the project is being developed over nearly 13.5 lakh square feet with an investment of around Rs 1,100 crore.
Officials said the facility will likely generate employment opportunities for nearly 9,000 highly skilled workers.
The complete seven-phase development is to attract investments worth about Rs 15,000 crore and create more than 63,000 jobs over the next five years.
Shah also said Gujarat’s economy has increasingly focused on technology infrastructure and global capability centres in recent years, reflecting changing trends in industrial development.
The Minister stressed the importance of modern urban planning and leadership to support India’s long-term growth in emerging sectors.
Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi and officials associated with Ganesh Housing Corporation Limited attended the programme.
