G20

This historic mega-event, taking place in Srinagar under India’s presidency for the first time, is set to showcase the beauty of Kashmir and its vast tourism possibilities on a global scale.

In a demonstration of its strategy, Modi claimed that India and Bangladesh had successfully negotiated their sea and land borders.

In today’s meeting, the delegates are expected to hold multiple sessions at SKICC. During the day, the delegates will be taken to a few locations including Nishat Garden, Cheshma Shahi, Pari Mahal, Kashmir Arts Emporium and Polo View Market.

In an official statement, Wang Wenbin, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said, "China firmly opposes holding any kind of G20 meeting on disputed territory. We won't go to those meetings.

Be it a local citizen or anyone else associated with the tourism industry, everyone here in Kashmir is excited for the grand G-20 Summit.

Sameer Baktoo stressed the importance of promoting responsible tourism as a means of making the region more resilient against climate change, stating that "climate change is a global challenge."

“We are hopeful that the countries that had put travel advisories restraining their citizens from travelling to Kashmir will be lifted, and we will see a huge footfall of foreign tourists in the valley post-G20 summit in Kashmir."

A significant number of foreign tourists -- even from the countries which have negative travel advisories in place -- are visiting Kashmir and they feel the place is absolutely safe.

The Chief Secretary directed the officials that the upcoming G20 event shall impart necessary impetus to trade and tourism.
