Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a ceremonial welcome in Vienna, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to Austria in 41 years.

Austrian artists welcomed PM Modi with 'Vande Mataram' at the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Vienna, kicking off his historic visit to Austria.

On arriving to Austria for 2 days visit after attending India-Russia Annual Summit in Moscow Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Welcomed by Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer in personal capacity for a private engagement.

On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on an official visit to Russia and Austria from 8-10 July.

Traditionally, India-Austria relations have been warm and friendly. Earlier, in January, India and Austria signed five agreements including in the areas of migration and mobility. The two nations also signed the Working Holiday Programme agreement.
