Shah was also present at the Narendra Modi Stadium during the final, witnessing India’s emphatic victory over New Zealand.
His message joined a wave of congratulatory remarks from political leaders and public figures across the country after India’s commanding win in the tournament final.
A powerful batting display anchored India’s dominant performance. Sanju Samson (89), Abhishek Sharma (52) and Ishan Kishan (54) provided the foundation for a massive total.
Samson, continuing his outstanding run in the tournament, struck a rapid 89 off 46 balls, hitting five fours and eight sixes.
The opener registered his third successive half-century. He also shared a 98-run partnership with Abhishek Sharma.
Sharma played an explosive knock of 52 from just 21 deliveries.
Kishan added further momentum with a brisk 54 off 25 balls. His innings helped India pile up a formidable score of 255 for five in 20 overs. It was the highest team total recorded in this edition of the World Cup.
New Zealand managed to slow the scoring briefly when James Neesham claimed three wickets in a single over. However, Shivam Dube finished strongly with an unbeaten 26 from eight balls to push India past the 250 mark.
Defending the huge total, India’s bowlers quickly seized control of the match. Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel struck early to dismantle New Zealand’s top order, reducing the visitors to 52 for three and effectively ending hopes of a successful chase.
New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 159 in 19 overs. The result sealed a comprehensive victory for India. It also marked another historic moment for the team on the global stage.
