Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday launched the ‘Sardar@150 Unity March’, a youth-led nationwide initiative.
This march commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s Iron Man and unifier of the nation.
Organised by MY Bharat under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, it aims to instil unity, patriotism, and civic responsibility.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Jan Bhagidari’ vision, the march encourages active youth participation in nation-building efforts.
Consequently, the celebrations span from 2024 to 2026, reflecting Sardar Patel’s monumental contributions during India’s formative years post-independence.
Addressing the media, Mandaviya called the initiative a “national movement” connecting youth to Patel’s ideals of unity and strength. He added, “From independence to Viksit Bharat, this journey honours the vision of Sardar Patel and PM Modi alike.”
The digital phase of the march kicked off with competitions like social media reels, essay writing, and a national quiz.
Young citizens aged 15–29 can register via the MY Bharat platform to participate in these exciting engagement activities. The first physical phase, District-Level Padyatras, runs from October 31 to November 25 across all parliamentary constituencies.
Additionally, participants will walk 8–10 km daily, led by MPs and State Ministers, showcasing India’s vibrant cultural and social unity.
The National-Level Padyatra begins on Constitution Day, November 26, from Karamsad to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia. Covering 152 kms, the padyatra concludes on December 6, symbolising the nation’s respect and gratitude for Patel’s contributions.
Moreover, it will feature 150 top youth leaders selected through the quiz, representing future leadership in India’s development journey.
Sardar Gatha sessions with scholars narrating Patel’s life stories will follow each day’s padyatra, preserving his inspiring legacy.
