Reports Indicate That The BCCI Has Shortlisted 15 Potential Venues For The ICC World Cup 2023

The Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) in India has proposed 15 potential locations for the upcoming 50-over ICC World Cup, set to take place in India. This prestigious competition marks the return of the World Cup to India after a gap of 12 years. It was during the previous edition that the Indian cricket team, famously known as the Men in Blue, ended a 28-year-long wait to clinch the coveted championship. Cricket enthusiasts and fans are eagerly anticipating the tournament, hoping for thrilling matches and unforgettable moments as teams from around the world compete for cricketing glory.

BCCI to unveil ICC World Cup 2023 schedule at World Test Championship final

According to recent sources, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated that the 2023 World Cup schedule will be revealed during the World Test Championship final between India and Australia at the Oval, which begins on June 7, 2023. According to additional sources, the board has compiled a list of potential tournament locations across India. However, the ICC will shortly receive the final list of locations.

During a press conference held after the BCCI’s extraordinary general meeting in Ahmedabad, Shah’s statements were quoted by Cricinfo. With approximately four months remaining until the event starts, the BCCI has not yet finalized the itinerary for the ten-team World Cup, scheduled to take place between October 5 and November 19.

The highly anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 will feature a total of 48 games, including three knockout rounds, and span across 46 days of thrilling cricket action. The initial shortlist of potential venues proposed by the BCCI included well-known cricketing cities like Mumbai, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Indore. Reports suggest that the ICC World Cup 2023 is considering Nagpur and Pune as potential host cities.

Ten different cities will host the league matches of the World Cup, providing fans from various regions with the opportunity to witness live cricket matches. These cities will serve as the battleground where teams from around the globe will compete for supremacy and vie for a place in the knockout stages. In addition to the league matches, two additional locations will host warm-up games, adding to the excitement and preparations leading up to the main tournament.
