Javed Miandad, a former captain, has leveled new and vehement criticism at the BCCI for declining to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup in 2023. After the ACC (Asia Cricket Council) adopted the ‘hybrid model’ for the Asia Cup, according to which India will play all of its matches in Sri Lanka, Miandad, who has been highly critical of India’s reservations about going to Pakistan to play cricket, did not hold back. Miandad, who thinks that Pakistan should refrain from visiting India unless the Indian cricket team comes to play the series, is not happy with this suggestion.

The Big Statement of Javed Miandad on India

“Pakistan visited India in 2012 and even in 2016, and now it’s the Indians’ turn to travel to Pakistan. If I had to choose, I wouldn’t play any match in India, not even in the World Cup. Although India is always willing to play, they never do so in the same way. The sport of cricket in Pakistan is growing, and we continue to develop top players. India is welcome to hell. Even if we choose not to visit India, I don’t believe it will have any impact on us, Miandad told reporters.

India will face Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023

The drama between India and Pakistan goes beyond the Asia Cup. There was a lot of uproar around Pakistan’s participation in the 2023 World Cup, which will be held in India. The highly anticipated India-Pakistan match, which is likely to draw worldwide interest, is scheduled to be played on October 15 in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, but the ICC has yet to release the official schedule. Additionally, according to the most recent sources, the PCB’s analytical team advised against having Pakistan play their World Cup match against Afghanistan on Chennai’s spin-friendly surface.

India should visit Pakistan first: Javed Miandad

However, Miandad believes Pakistan should adopt a tough position and refuse to send Pakistan to India. The last time India visited Pakistan was in 2008 for the Asia Cup. But after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, relations between the two countries soured. The two countries’ most recent bilateral series took place in 2012–2013 when Pakistan visited India for a three-ODI series in December–January.
