ODI World Cup: The Chepauk Track Is Anticipated To Favor Spinners In The India-Australia Clash

On Sunday, October 8, at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, hosts India and five-time champion Australia square off to start their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign.

Chepauk’s condition for IND vs AUS

Chepauk is renowned for being a location that welcomes spinners. The pitch for the India vs. Australia match is anticipated to be a rank-turner, so the Australian batsmen are making no omissions in their preparation for a possible trial by spin.

The Australian batsmen concentrated on honing their skills against spin bowling in the nets since they anticipated that India may field a playing XI that included three spinners: Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin. The likes of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steve Smith, and company encountered their own net bowlers in the form of Adam Zampa, D’Arcy Short, and Marnus Labuschagne.

While there were occasional huge shots, the focus was on the rotation of strikes and moving balls into fictitious gaps. The Australians are aware of the value of maintaining a scoreboard on twisting tracks because boundaries may be hard to come by.

On Friday, the pacers, including Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Australia’s captain Pat Cummins, bowled for a while alongside other local pacers. However, most of the bowling in the nets was done by the spinners.

Australia’s excellent ODI performance at Chepauk

The “Men in Yellow” may have grown up on frantic, bouncing tracks at home, but they are better spinners than several nations outside the subcontinent. They are one of the best cricketing nations, which is supported by their remarkable record at Chepauk, which speaks volumes about their capacity to adapt to various situations.

Australia has managed to win five and lose only one of its six games played there. At Chepauk, India has competed in 14 matches, winning seven and losing six. One of the games came to a deadlock.
