Meet The India Men’s 4x400m Relay Team From The 2023 World Athletics Championships Who Broke The Asia Record

The men’s India 4x400m relay team placed fifth in the 2023 World Athletics Championships final. India finished in 2:59:92 in the Budapest, Hungary, finals.

The Indian replay team secured fifth position

Muhammed Anas Yahiya got the race going with a solid pace that set the stage for an exciting race. While this was going on, Hall, who was representing the USA, outperformed Great Britain and took the lead.

Amoj Jacob, on the other hand, struggled with a subpar turnaround and finished the second lap in second to last place. However, Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi displayed his talent when he passed the Dutch competitor and took third-to-last place. With a time of 2:59:92, Rajesh Ramesh performed a commendable performance to move India up to fifth place.

The 4x400m relay team for men

Born in Nilamel, Kerala, in 1994, Muhammad Anas Yahiya initially pursued long jumping before moving to 400-metre running. The third Indian to achieve so for this event, he qualified for the 2016 Olympics. Yahiya earned a total of four gold medals and three silver medals across various competitions, and she currently holds the national 400-meter record with a time of 45.24 seconds recorded in 2019.

About the men of the 4X400 relay team of India

Amos Jacob, a Delhi native who was born in 1998, excels in the 400- and 800-meter sprints. He participated on the record-breaking team at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and earned two medals at the 2016 Asian Junior Championships. At the Indian Grand Prix II, Jacob set a new personal record by finishing in 46 seconds.

Born in 1998 in Palakkad, Kerala, Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi started out as a football player. Later, he shifted to sprinting the 100 meters before settling on the 400 meters. He won gold in the 400-metre race at the Indian Championships in Bhubaneshwar in June 2023 by finishing in 45.51 seconds.

The team’s newest member, Rajesh Ramesh, was born in Tamil Nadu in 1999. Ramesh made a return by beating Yahiya in the 400-metre event at the Federation Cup despite suffering setbacks from injuries and the COVID-19 epidemic. The replay was completed in 2:59.05 seconds.

With a time of 2:59.05 seconds, the Indian men’s 4x400m relay team broke the Asian record and qualified for their first World Championships final round. Japan owned the previous Asian record, which was 2:59.51 seconds.
