SRH registered a five-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings on Monday in Match 63 of IPL 2026, confirming their place in the playoffs. Gujarat Titans also secured qualification, joining the top four teams.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru had already ensured their progression earlier in the tournament with nine wins from 13 matches, and SRH and Gujarat Titans have now followed suit.

After winning the toss at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings chose to bat first and posted 180/7 in 20 overs. The side lost two early wickets at 48, after which skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad (15) and Kartik Sharma (32) added 42 runs for the third wicket.

Despite losing four wickets by the time they reached 100, the team managed to rebuild the innings. Dewald Brevis and Shivam Dube stitched together a 59-run partnership off 38 balls. Their stand guided the side to a competitive total.

Brevis scored 44 off 27 deliveries, while Dube contributed 26. For SRH, Pat Cummins delivered an impressive spell, taking three wickets, while Sakib Husain claimed two.

In response, Sunrisers Hyderabad completed the chase in 19 overs. They lost Travis Head (6) early, but Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan steadied the innings with a 38-run stand.

Abhishek made 26 off 21 balls before departing. Subsequently, Heinrich Klaasen and Kishan forged a decisive 75-run partnership for the third wicket, putting SRH firmly in control.

Klaasen scored 47 off 26 balls, including two sixes and six fours. Kishan then led the charge with a commanding 70 off 47 deliveries, striking three sixes and seven fours, and took the team close to victory.

Salil Arora (10*) and Smaran Ravichandran (5*) remained unbeaten to guide SRH over the line and secure a playoff berth.

For CSK, Mukesh Choudhary picked up two wickets, while Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, and Akeal Hosein took one wicket each.

The result further intensifies the playoff race. Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans have strengthened their positions as the tournament heads towards its decisive phase.
