Delhi Capitals (DC) returned to winning ways in IPL 2026 with a tense six-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday.
Chasing 176 on a slowing pitch, DC got over the line with one ball to spare, thanks to a late blitz from David Miller, who smashed two sixes and a four in the final over.
RCB’s innings ended at 175/8 despite an aggressive approach, as DC’s bowlers executed a disciplined performance at the death.
In reply, DC had a disastrous start, slipping to 18/3 after Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Pathum Nissanka, Karun Nair, and Sameer Rizvi in a superb powerplay spell.
KL Rahul, playing on his birthday, steadied the innings with a fluent 57, continuing his strong record against RCB. He attacked Josh Hazlewood in the power play and stitched a crucial 76-run partnership with Tristan Stubbs.
Rahul reached his half-century off 30 balls before falling to Krunal Pandya. Stubbs then took charge, playing a composed, unbeaten knock of 60 and keeping the chase alive with timely boundaries.
Captain Axar Patel contributed a vital 26 but had to retire hurt due to severe cramps. RCB bowlers fought back strongly in the middle overs, conceding just 13 runs across overs 15 to 17, leaving DC needing 37 from the last three overs.
Stubbs narrowed the equation, but the match came down to 15 runs required in the final over.
RCB captain Rajat Patidar handed the ball to Romario Shepherd, who was bowling his first over of the match.
Miller turned the game around dramatically, smashing two towering sixes and then sealing the win with a boundary to deep mid-wicket.
The result ended RCB’s two-match winning streak and marked their first home defeat of the season.
Brief Scores:
RCB 175/8 (Phil Salt 63, Tim David 26; Axar Patel 2-18, Kuldeep Yadav 2-32) lost to DC 179/4 (Tristan Stubbs 60*, KL Rahul 57; Bhuvneshwar Kumar 3-26) by six wickets.
