In a remarkable achievement, Pranav Soorma has qualified for the Paris Paralympics in the F51 category club throw by setting a new world record at the recent trials held in Bengaluru. Soorma’s impressive throw of 37.23 meters surpassed the previous record of 36.22 meters by over a meter, securing his spot at the prestigious international event.
Soorma’s achievement comes after a disappointing outing at the World Para Athletics World Championship in Kobe, Japan, where he failed to win a medal. However, he bounced back with determination and hard work, crediting his coach Naval Singh for helping him refocus. “Not winning a medal at Kobe was a setback, but my coach and I went back to the basics and worked even harder. This performance has boosted my confidence, and I’m now looking forward to making the country proud at the Paris Paralympics,” Soorma said.

His perseverance paid off when he won a gold medal at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023, establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with on the international stage. With his new world record and Paris Paralympics qualification, Soorma is poise to take his talent to new heights.
