Arshdeep Singh IND vs NZ: New Zealand, who lost the ODI series 3-0, started the T20 series with a win. In the first match of the series, the Kiwi team defeated India by 21 runs. But the surprising thing is that this match was not won by New Zealand, but the Indian team gifted this match to the visiting team. Because the result could have been in India’s favor as well but it did not happen and the reason for this was Team India itself. With this defeat, Team India’s Ajay record in Ranchi was also broken.

IND vs NZ: Team India drowned itself

Indian captain Hardik Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl first. India’s bowlers started well by sending 2 New Zealand batsmen to the pavilion at a score of 43, but first Devon Conway’s 52 off 35 balls and then Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten 59 off 30 balls helped New Zealand win 6 runs. Scored 176 runs for the loss of wickets and gave India a big target of 177 to win. Due to the mistake of the last over, the Kiwi team was able to set this target and the biggest turning point of the match was Arshdeep’s last over.

India lost in this one over

The over which is played by Arshdeep, due to which the pressure on the Indian team increased, and perhaps it also became the reason for the defeat. New Zealand had scored 149 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in the 19th over of their innings. Hardik gave the 20th over to Arshdeep with the hope that he would get New Zealand out on a low score by dismissing Mitchell at the crease, but the exact opposite happened.

Arshdeep bowled the first ball no and Mitchell hit him for a six. On the next two balls too, Mitchell hit Arshdeep for two sixes and then hit a four. A total of 27 runs were scored in this over and New Zealand’s score went straight from 149 to 176. The 27 runs in the last over put such pressure on the Indian batsmen that they could not get out of it. Under the pressure of a big score, Team India could not start well and in the end, we had to face defeat. We cannot give full responsibility for the defeat to Arshdeep, but yes, his over increased the pressure on the Indian team, there is no doubt about it.

 The  flop Story

The top order of the Indian team, which came to chase the target, was a complete flop. Gill 7, Kishan 4, and Rahul Tripathi returned to the pavilion on 0. India lost the match thereby losing 3 wickets on 15 but the hope was still left. Surya and Hardik gave wings to this hope. Both these batsmen shared a 68-run partnership for the fourth wicket but Surya was dismissed after scoring 47 runs and then Hardik Pandya after scoring 21 runs.

These big successes that New Zealand got back to back confirmed its victory. Although all-rounder Washington Sundar did play an inning of 50 runs in 28 balls by hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes, the match was out of India’s hands by then. Deepak Hooda was also able to score only 10 runs. India was able to score 155 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 21 runs. Bracewell, Santner, and Ferguson took 2-2 wickets for New Zealand. Sodhi and Duffy also took 1-1 wickets.
