Google Compares the World Cup Finals of 2023 and 2003, Highlighting Tendulkar and Kohli

A list of interesting facts was released by Google India on Sunday, highlighting parallels between the cricket World Cup finals between Australia and India in 2003 and 2023. The Google India note compared the batting leadership at the Narendra Modi Stadium in 2023 between Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma and Sachin Tendulkar and then-captain Sourav Ganguly in 2003.

The note also mentioned that Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar scored the most runs in their respective finals. Interestingly, both Rohit Sharma and Sourav Ganguly led the World Cup squad for the first time as captains, with a 20-year lapse between the events in 2023 and 2003.

The remark also mentioned that a “Rahul” was the wicketkeeper for both World Cups. In 2003, Rahul Dravid took over as wicketkeeper, and in 2023, KL Rahul will take over for the World Cup.

Australia seemed to have an advantage in 2003 since they won every game they played in the group stage. In the same way, India is in a favorable situation this year. In Sunday’s 50-over World Cup final at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and decided to field against India. Two-time winners India has been in outstanding form, winning all ten of their matches to advance to the world’s largest cricket arena and face five-time champion Australia. Both teams stuck with the same lineup of eleven players who were crucial to their respective semifinal wins.

When it comes to his choice, Cummins stated, “Dew is one factor, and it’s quite dewy in the night at this venue.” “I’m rather pleased with the team. They had a difficult start to the competition, but they haven’t failed since.”

In any event, home skipper Rohit Sharma stated, he would have loved to bat first. The opener declared, “I would have batted first, big game and runs on the board.” The largest event in cricket history is this one. We must maintain our composure. Being the team captain in the championship is a dream come true.”
