Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) President Rohan Jaitley has dismissed reports suggesting he might be in line to become the next BCCI Secretary. This speculation arose following news that Jay Shah, the current BCCI Secretary, is a leading candidate for the role of International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman, contingent on his election to the position.
Last week, Greg Barclay, the incumbent ICC Chairman, formally announced his decision to step down when his term ends in November. Barclay, who began his tenure in November 2020 as the Independent ICC Chair and was re-elected unopposed in 2022, confirmed he will not seek another term.

Shah’s potential promotion to the ICC Chairman role would create a vacancy at the BCCI, a situation that has fueled rumors about Jaitley stepping into the BCCI Secretary position. Shah has gained significant prominence in the cricket administration sphere through his successful roles as BCCI Secretary and Secretary of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
However, Jaitley clarified on Monday that he has no intentions of pursuing the BCCI Secretary role. He emphasized that his focus remains on enhancing the popularity and development of cricket at the league level, rather than moving into a different administrative position.
As the cricket world anticipates Jay Shah’s possible move to the ICC, Rohan Jaitley’s commitment to his current role underscores his dedication to advancing local cricket initiatives.
