Former India opening batter Shikhar Dhawan has signed up for the Legends League Cricket (LLC) just days after announcing his retirement from international and domestic cricket. The upcoming season of LLC, which kicks off in September, will feature a roster of retired cricketing greats competing in the league.

Dhawan’s illustrious career features notable achievements, including his recognition as Player of the Tournament in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He has accumulated over 6,793 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs) at an impressive average of 44.1 and scored 1,759 runs in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) with a strike rate of 91.35.

In addition to his contributions to the Indian cricket team, Dhawan has made a significant impact in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over a career spanning more than a decade, he played 269 matches, amassing 10,867 runs at an average of 40.

Reflecting on his transition to LLC, Dhawan expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter. “Taking on this new chapter with Legends League Cricket feels like the ideal progression after my retirement,” Dhawan said. “My body is still conditioned for the demands of the game, and while I’m at ease with my decision, cricket is an inseparable part of who I am. Dhawan joins a growing list of cricketing stars who have come out of retirement to compete in LLC, including Aaron Finch, Martin Guptill, and Hashim Amla.
