New Zealand’s in-form batter Rachin Ravindra became the leading run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 during the final against India at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.
Rachin, who had scored 226 runs in three matches before the final, needed just one run to surpass England’s Ben Duckett. Duckett had 227 runs, including a top score of 165. However, England was eliminated early, limiting Duckett’s chances to extend his lead.
Rachin’s 37 runs off 29 balls in the final, including four fours and a six, helped him finish with 263 runs. He finished 42 runs ahead of India’s Virat Kohli, who scored 217 runs.
Impressive Start & Key Contributions
Rachin started the tournament with a bang, scoring a century against Bangladesh in his opening match. He missed New Zealand’s first match against Pakistan due to a head injury during the pre-tournament tri-series.
Against India, Rachin was dismissed for just six, but he bounced back in the semi-final against South Africa. His brilliant knock of 108 runs, including 13 fours and a six, alongside Kane Williamson’s 102, propelled New Zealand to a total of 362/6.
New Zealand restricted South Africa to 312/9, securing their place in the final against India.
Kohli is currently in fourth place with 217 runs. He could surpass Rachin’s tally during India’s innings in the final. Shreyas Iyer (195 runs) and Shubman Gill (157 runs) are also on the list, ranked eighth and eleventh respectively.
