Canada has confirmed their place in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after an unbeaten campaign in the Americas Regional Qualifier.
The team sealed qualification following a dominant win over the Bahamas, making it five wins in five matches.
Kaleem Sana and Shivam Sharma led Canada’s bowling attack and dismissed the Bahamas for just 57 runs.
Both Sana and Sharma picked up three wickets apiece.
Canada chased down the modest target in just 5.3 overs, with Dilpreet Bajwa smashing an unbeaten 36 off 14 deliveries to complete a crushing win.
Canada came into the tournament as favourites, having participated in the previous T20 World Cup hosted by the USA and West Indies in 2024.
Under the leadership of Nicholas Kirton, the team justified its reputation with commanding wins throughout the qualifying event.
Canada opened their campaign with a massive 110-run victory against Bermuda, setting the tone for a dominant run through the qualifiers.
The following matches saw them defeat the Cayman Islands by 59 runs, and then the Bahamas by 10 wickets in their first encounter.
In a rain-shortened five-overs-a-side rematch against the Cayman Islands, Canada scored 82 runs and secured a 42-run win, maintaining their unbeaten streak.
Their final fixture against the Bahamas not only ensured their qualification but also underlined their strength in the region.
Canada now joins a growing list of teams confirmed for the 20-nation tournament, including co-hosts India and Sri Lanka.
Other qualified teams are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, South Africa, the United States, West Indies, Ireland, New Zealand, and Pakistan.
Seven qualification spots remain open, with upcoming tournaments scheduled in Europe, Africa, and a combined Asia-East Asia Pacific (EAP) region.
The European Qualifier will take place from July 5 to 11, followed by the African tournament in September and October, and the Asia-EAP Qualifier from October 1 to 17.
Canada’s qualification reflects their growing stature in international cricket and sets the stage for their continued rise on the global platform.
With an aggressive and balanced side, they now prepare to test their mettle against the world’s best in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
