Josh Hazlewood won’t play in the beginning of the Indian Premier League, but he still hopes to play for Royal Challengers Bangalore later on.
Hazlewood has had a frustrating series of injuries, the most recent of which was a problem with his Achilles that kept him out of all four Border-Gavaskar Test matches in India.
After bowling on damp run-ups at the SCG Test in January, the 32-year-old suffered the Achilles strain and missed the previous two home summers with side strains. The wet and soft areas of the field where Hazlewood started his bowling stride put more stress on his body, and it took the fast bowler a long time to get back to normal.
Hazlewood, who was acquired by RCB at the “mega-auction” in 2022, is currently on a $1.44 million contract. He was sent back to Sydney after missing the first two Tests in India and will consult with Cricket Australia’s medical staff before traveling to the IPL.
The 32-year-old is recuperating from an Achilles injury that prevented him from competing in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in India.
According to the report, Hazlewood will consult Cricket Australia’s medical staff before deciding whether or not to participate in the IPL.

Another significant development is that all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who did not play in Australia’s final two One-Day Internationals against India earlier this month, is not expected to play in RCB’s first game against Mumbai Indians on April 2 in Bengaluru because he has not fully recovered from a leg injury.
George Bailey, the national selector for Australia, stated that Maxwell, who suffered a freak accident in November and broke his leg, found the return to ODI play “more demanding than he had expected.”
