Centre has upgraded the rank of Enforcement Directorate's acting Director Rahul Navin among 11 bureaucrats to the post of Additional Secretary. A crash between a minibus transporting tourists and a truck in Brazil's northeastern Bahia state left 25 dead, the state's firefighters corps said Monday on its official Instagram account. Letter about sexual harassment of women personnel fake, says Mumbai police; begin probe
Mumbai police have begun a probe into a fake letter that alleged sexual harassment of women drivers in the force by three senior officers, an official said on Monday. No such incident has taken place and the signatures on the letter, which has been mischievously circulated, are fake, the official asserted. The letter being circulated on social media alleged three officers of Mumbai police's motor transport department had sexually harassed women drivers. "We will find out who is behind this letter and take strict action. Our probe has found some anti-social elements prepared the letter, forged signatures of some women personnel and circulated it," he added.

The Gujarat government was deemed incompetent by the Supreme Court to have granted remission to eleven convicted individuals who were given life sentences for the gangrape of Bilkis Bano and the murder of her family members during the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat. Bilkis Bano said, “Today is truly the New Year for me. I have wept tears of relief. I have smiled for the first time in over a year and half. I have hugged my children. It feels like a stone the size of a mountain has been lifted from my chest, and I can breathe again. This is what justice feels like. World Bank to give Rs 2328 cr for project to divert flood water to Marathwada: Fadnavis
The World Bank has approved financial assistance of Rs 2,328 crore to develop infrastructure to divert flood water from western Maharashtra to Marathwada, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday. The state government will contribute Rs 998 crore for the plan, he added. "The World Bank has approved financial assistance of Rs 2,328 crore for the project that will help in diverting flood water from western Maharashtra to Marathwada, which faces water scarcity," he said in a statement. Sangli and Kolhapur districts had witnessed flooding in September 2018, and a World Bank team that visited these areas at the time decided to provide aid for the water diversion project, Fadnavis said.
