Muzaffarnagar court sends man to 10 years in jail for raping minor girl
A local court on Tuesday convicted a man for kidnapping and raping a minor girl in an eight-year-old case and sentenced him to 10 years in jail, a lawyer said. Special Judge Anjali Kumar Singh of Muzaffarnagar's POCSO court convicted Pappu for kidnapping and raping a 17-year-old girl and imposed a fine of Rs 27,000 on him. On April 18, 2016, Pappu kidnapped the minor from her house in a village under Ratanpuri police station area and raped her, government advocate Vinay Kumar Arora said. Police registered a case against the accused under sections of kidnapping, rape and the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and filed a charge sheet.
Rajasthan govt suspends IAS officer Bishnoi after arrest in corruption case
The Rajasthan government has suspended IAS officer Prem Sukh Bishnoi, who was recently arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a corruption case. The Personnel department issued the suspension order on Monday. The suspension is effective from the date of Bishnoi's arrest (January 19). Bishnoi was posted as the Fisheries department director in Jaipur. He was arrested by the ACB on Friday last week while taking a bribe in lieu of granting license for fishing.

Republic Day parade to start from 10:30 AM on January 26 from Vijay Chowk to Kartavya Path. The parade commander would be Delhi Area Commander Lt General Bhavnish Kumar. Two of the three living Param Vir Chakra awardees including Hony Captain Yogendra Yadav and Subedar Major Sanjay Kumar would be taking part in the Republic Day parade. A variety of new-generation vehicles including Terrain Vehicles, Light Specialist Vehicles, and Special Mobility Vehicles will be taking part in the part. The ALH Dhruv Rudra and LCH Prachand will be taking part in flypast. French contingent includes Indian and Nepali origin members. When they will march at the contingent, a French refueler aircraft along with two French Rafale aircraft will fly over them. First time, an all-women tri-services contingent will take part in the parade which will include females of Army’s military police along with women from other two services.
One Woman Died, Five Others Missing As Boat Overturns In Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli
One woman died, and five others are missing as a boat overturned in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli. Of the seven women travelling on the boat, one was rescued. According to the Chamorshi police, seven women were travelling on a boat in Vanaganga River near the Ghanpur Ghat in Chamorshi to cut chilli, when the boat capsized. The boat operator managed to swim ashore, but the women drowned. While one woman was rescued, the body of another woman has been recovered. A rescue team, with the help of local swimmers, is searching for the missing women.
