More Than 50 Flights Delayed, Some Diverted As Thick Fog Engulfs Delhi-NCR
Thick fog shrouded Delhi and its neighbouring areas this morning, reducing visibility to near zero and affecting road, rail and flight movement. The national capital is likely to receive light rainfall for two days beginning today owing to a western disturbance in the Himalayan region. According to Delhi airport sources, more than 50 flights were delayed due to the thick fog in Delhi. Some of these flights were diverted to Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Mumbai. The Delhi airport issued an advisory, urging passengers to contact their airlines for updated flight information.
Madras High Court Orders Prohibition Of Entry Of Non-Hindus In Temples
Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department to install boards in all Hindu temples, stating that non-Hindus are not permitted beyond the 'Kodimaram' (flagpole) area. Highlighting incidents where non-Hindus allegedly entered temples for non-religious purposes, Justice S Srimathy of the High Court's Madurai Bench said, "A temple is not a picnic or tourist spot."
Jacqueline Fernandez Knowingly Involved In Possession And Use Of Proceeds Of Crime Of Alleged Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar
ED has told the Delhi High Court that Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez, accused in a Rs 200 crore money laundering case, was knowingly involved in the possession and use of proceeds of crime of alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The probe agency alleged that evidence showed that the actor "had been enjoying, using and was in possession of the proceeds of crime" of Sukesh Chandrasekhar. This contention by the ED was made in an affidavit filed in response to Jacqueline Fernandez's plea that sought the cancellation of an FIR lodged against her in the money laundering case.

IMF Upgrades India’s Growth Forecast to 6.7% for FY24, Citing Robust Q2 GDP and Strong Medium-Term Potential
In its World Economic Outlook Update (WEO Update - Jan. 2024), the International Monetary Fund has revised upward India's growth forecast for FY24 to 6.7% (from 6.3%) on account of the robust Q2 GDP outturn: The IMF has revised upward medium-term (potential) GDP growth to 6.5% (from 6.3%) reflecting strong public investment, positive labor market outcomes in the latest PLFS report, and adjustments to our model. IMF continues to view the external sector as strong and is narrowing its current account deficit projection for FY 24 from 1.8% (of GDP) to 1.6%. India continues to be the fastest-growing economy among the major economies of the world.
