The Home Minister should come, and speak in the house, there would be questions that he would have to answer. After that, the proceedings of the House can run."

Delhi High Court refused to entertain a petition urging the Centre and the Election Commission of India to urgently implement the Women's Reservation Bill, 2023, ensuring 33 per cent reservation for women in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Justice Subramonium Prasad observed that the prayers resembled a public interest litigation (PIL) and suggested the petitioner withdraw the plea and file a fresh PIL.

Imam from Mecca to lay new Ayodhya mosque foundation. The foundation stone for Masjid Mohammad Bin Abdullah in Ayodhya will be laid by Imam-e-Haram. The mosque is being built in Dhannipur, 25km from Ayodhya, on a plot given by the Uttar Pradesh government. The mosque will have the biggest Quran in the world and five minarets symbolizing the pillars of Islam. The complex will also include a cancer hospital, schools, a museum, a library, and a vegetarian kitchen. It will feature a stunning aquarium and fountains that come alive during evening namaz.
Madras High Court Sentences IPS Officer in Contempt Case Filed by MS Dhoni
Madras high court on Friday sentenced IPS officer Sampath Kumar to 15 days of imprisonment in a contempt of court petition moved by cricketer MS Dhoni. However, a division bench of Justice S S Sundar and Justice Sunder Mohan suspended the sentence for 30 days to enable Sampath Kumar to prefer an appeal. On December 17, 2021, Sampath Kumar filed an additional written statement in a defamation suit moved by Dhoni against the IPS officer in connection with the 2014 IPL betting scam.
SC Grants Extension till January 10 for Maharashtra Speaker’s Verdict on Disqualification Petitions Against MLAs, Including CM
Supreme Court extends till January 10 the time for Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar to pronounce verdict on disqualification petitions against MLAs including Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Speaker has sought extension of time to decide disqualification pleas against rebel MLAs of Shiv Sena and NCP. Earlier, Supreme Court asked Speaker to decide by December 31 on the disqualification petitions pending before him.
Calcutta High Court Orders CBI Probe into Alleged Custodial Death in Nadia District, West Bengal
A division bench of Calcutta High Court has ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe on an alleged custodial death in West Bengal's Nadia district. Besides ordering central agency probe against investigating official attached to Murutia Police Station, bench of Justices Chittaranjan Das and Partha Sarathi Sen has also directed state police to initiate departmental enquiry against police officer concerned. In August, victim Saokat Mondal, was picked up by cops of Murutia Police Station. Next day, his body was recovered from behind a bamboo-bush near police station. The victim's family then approached higher officials of district police demanding a thorough probe in matter.
