Dense fog engulfs several parts of India
Dense fog continues to engulf several parts of north India, including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and extended up to sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Jharkhand this morning. However, the intensity of the fog decreased a bit at several places in Delhi and the visibility improved from 500 m to 600 m. IMD has said dense fog will continue in most parts of Punjab, Delhi, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar till January 2, 2024. It also said that cold wave conditions will get worse in the region till New Year’s Eve.
PM Modi to inaugurate redeveloped railway station and new airport
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today be welcomed by various groups of artists from across the country as he arrives in Ayodhya to inaugurate the redeveloped railway station and a new airport. In a statement, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's office said more than 1,400 performers will present folk art and cultural programmes in a total of 40 stages set up along the route from the airport to the railway station, Ram Path. The Prime Minister will also participate in a public event later, where several development projects worth more than Rs 15,700 crore will be inaugurated. The consecration ceremony at the Ram temple will be held on January 22.
NHRC issues notices to India’s Drugs Controller General, over medicines in Delhi Mohalla Clinics, not meeting standards
National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Delhi Chief Secretary, Drugs Controller General of India, and Delhi Police Commissioner over medicines in Delhi govt-run hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, not meeting the requisite standards. It took suo motu cognizance of a media report that a medicine ‘Sodium Valproate’, recommended for treatment of epilepsy in Delhi government-run hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, has been found to be not meeting the requisite standards as per a report issued by the Regional Drug Testing Laboratory RDTL Chandigarh and another medicine prescribed by the doctors for the treatment of epilepsy was also found to be inadequate.
