Patna, Sep 1: Jan Suraaj Chief Prashant Kishor announced on Sunday that his party will reserve at least 40 seats for Muslim candidates in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Addressing supporters at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna, Kishor highlighted that Muslims currently hold only 19 seats in the Bihar Assembly, despite constituting 18 to 19 percent of the state’s population.

Kishor criticized the JDU, RJD, and Congress for leveraging Muslim votes without offering adequate representation or development. He emphasized that Jan Suraaj aims to provide proportional representation for all communities in Bihar.

Broader Inclusion and Ideological Reflections

Kishor also pledged that Muslim involvement in Jan Suraaj would extend beyond ticket distribution to include roles in the party’s organizational structure. He stated that among 25 leaders in Jan Suraaj, four to five would be from the Muslim community.

He urged Muslims to vote for Jan Suraaj for the sake of their children’s future and rights, rather than as a political convenience. Kishor called for a revival of the ideologies of leaders such as Gandhi, Ambedkar, Lohia, and JP, asserting their relevance today.

Reflecting on his political journey, Kishor mentioned supporting Narendra Modi in 2014 and opposing the BJP from 2015 to 2021. He noted that despite BJP’s 37 percent vote share, the party managed to form the government three times in Delhi, indicating significant opposition to their ideology.
