Korean culture is becoming increasingly prominent in the country. A video of a Pakistani boy and his Korean mother has just gone viral on social media for all the right reasons. The Korean woman is shown speaking fluent Punjabi in the now-viral video, and the internet is astounded by her abilities.
Sungkun Siddiqui, commonly known as Desi Korean, introduced his mother to his Instagram followers in a video. She then responded in Punjabi to a few of her son’s queries.
Mr. Siddiqui begins the video by asking his mother in Punjabi if she speaks the language. In response, she says, “Han aundee hai (Yes, I can)”.
Her son then requests her to speak a few Punjabi phrases. Mr. Siddiqui teases her by ignoring her assertions when she takes some time to think about what to say. He later inquires about her favorite film. When she pauses to mention a name, Mr. Siddiqui interrupts and asks playfully whether it is the Punjabi movie ‘Carry On Jatta’. She says in Hindi, “Nahi, meri pasand ki movie Par Desi Par Desi Janna Nahi” (No, I like the movie ‘Par Desi Par Desi Janna Nahi’), indicating ‘Raja Hindustani’.
The video’s caption reads, “If my mum can speak Punjabi then so can you! 😂”
